The ability to open an AI tool during an interview does not tell you whether the assessment allows it. Preparation, use during the assessment and processing another person's audio are separate decisions. Check the current invitation and provider terms for your specific interview.
| Moment | What to check |
|---|---|
| Before the assessment | May you rehearse with your own CV, projects and a public role description? |
| During the assessment | Does the provider expressly permit outside assistance, and for which tasks? |
| When audio is involved | Who will be heard or processed, and what permission and notice are required? |
| After the assessment | May you retain or share prompts, recordings or feedback? |
For a concrete example, micro1's candidate terms require original, unassisted answers unless outside help is expressly permitted. Its official guide also provides preparation information. The existence of preparation advice does not change the live-assessment restriction. Other providers can set different rules; read their current terms and the instructions sent to you.
MagicInterview's acceptable-use policy asks users to follow the rules of the place where they use it and to handle recording and consent appropriately. Use practice, a technical story bank or the micro1 preparation guide to prepare an honest answer before the assessment. Use live assistance only when the exact interview permits it. For the separate law and data questions, see the legal-use guide.
Keep preparation inputs separate#
Build rehearsal from your own experience and a public role description using the story-map worksheet or free text preview. Avoid importing restricted assessment content. micro1’s section 6, checked on 12 October 2026, addresses both interview-content confidentiality and outside assistance; permission for one activity is not permission for the other.
