Use coaching during a Meet call only when the meeting permits it and any required participant permission is established. MagicInterview is a separate companion workspace, not a native Google Meet integration.
Check Meet before joining#
In Meet’s pre-join preview, select the intended microphone and speaker from the device controls. Speak and watch the microphone bar, then use Test speakers. Google’s audio instructions, checked on 12 October 2026, explain these controls. Passing Meet’s test establishes Meet input and output; it does not establish MagicInterview reception.
Choose the MagicInterview route#
| Your route | Next action |
|---|---|
| Meet in a desktop Chrome or Edge tab | In the web coach, start microphone listening, then choose Listen to a tab instead from the listening options. Select the Meet tab and enable the picker’s audio-sharing option. |
| Installed MagicInterview Mac app | Choose Microphone and a call window, then select the Meet window in the Mac sharing picker. |
| Phone browser or a web browser without shared-audio support | Use your own microphone or typed input; do not assume the other participant’s audio is captured. |
These are product input paths, not a device certification. Prepare the brief in your project before the call. Server coaching requires Pro under the plan terms.
Verify both speakers#
In an agreed test meeting, say “candidate setup check” and have the other person say “meeting setup check.” Confirm which phrase reaches the conversation and its source label. If the second phrase is absent, check selected tab and the audio-sharing checkbox rather than treating a green microphone as success. Stop sharing before leaving the test. Use Mac or Windows checks for permissions. For preparation without capture, build a meeting brief.
