Choose between the installed MagicInterview Mac app and a web coach before testing a call. Their source pickers differ. A meeting heard in your headphones is not proof that either route receives the other participant’s audio.
Installed Mac app#
Select Microphone and a call window in the listening options, then choose the actual meeting window in the Mac sharing picker. Check microphone and screen/audio permissions for MagicInterview in macOS settings. Speak a phrase yourself and have an agreed test participant speak a different phrase. Inspect both received turns and their source labels. Selecting a window describes the intended source; verify reception on your actual app and OS version.
Web coach on Mac#
In desktop Chrome or Edge, choose Start listening, then open listening options and choose Listen to a tab instead. Select the call tab and enable its audio-sharing option. A desktop meeting app is not that tab. The web shared-audio path is not offered for Safari or Firefox; microphone or typed input remains a separate option.
| Failure | First check |
|---|---|
| Your own phrase is absent | macOS microphone permission, device choice and mute |
| Only your phrase appears | Shared meeting window/tab and its audio reception |
| Source stopped after changing windows | Current picker selection and capture state |
| Different headset changes behavior | Input in macOS and output in the meeting app |
Stop capture after the test. This guide supplies the current controls rather than a completed version-by-version compatibility test. See Meet, Zoom or Teams for the provider’s own device checks, and on-device versus cloud coaching for processing choices. Server coaching requires Pro under the plan terms.
