Check a permitted Zoom coaching setup

Check the exact microphone or shared-audio route before using a separate coaching workspace alongside Zoom.

By MagicInterviewLast updated

Zoom can run in a browser tab or a desktop app. That distinction determines which source you can share with a separate MagicInterview workspace; opening both products does not connect their audio.

Check Zoom’s devices first#

In the Zoom desktop app, open Settings → Audio and test the speaker and microphone. When joining without automatic computer audio, Zoom also offers Test speaker and microphone. Zoom’s testing instructions, checked on 12 October 2026, explain both paths. Resolve Zoom’s mute or device issue before changing the coach.

Match the route to the source#

The Windows source picker can vary by browser and operating system. This table describes what to select, not a claim that every listed combination has passed a device test. Server coaching requires Pro under the plan terms.

Test a complete exchange#

Confirm that assistance and participant-audio processing are permitted. In an agreed test call, speak one phrase yourself and have the other participant speak a different phrase. Check both in the coach, then stop capture. If only your voice appears, the other-side route has not passed. Check Zoom mute, chosen source and browser audio-sharing option one at a time.
